Cranial Sacral Services in the Bruce Peninsula
The Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) we offer at our Bruce Peninsula location is a gentle, relaxing, hands-on approach that releases tensions deep in the body. Cranial sacral relieves pain and dysfunction while improving whole-body health and performance. It was pioneered and developed by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger after years of clinical testing and research at Michigan State University where he served as professor of Biomechanics.
What is Cranial Sacral Therapy and How Does it Work?
Using a soft touch which is generally no greater than 5 grams – about the weight of a nickel – your practitioner releases restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system. The CST Practitioner uses his or her hands to evaluate the cranio sacral system by gently feeling various locations testing for the ease of motion and rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid pulsing around the brain and spinal cord. Soft-touch techniques are then used to release restrictions in any tissues influencing the cranio sacral system.
The release may be felt as heat coming off from the body, softening, pulsing, etc. Restrictions occurring anywhere on the body can cause problems in a completely different place. Restrictions in the neck may be causing low back or sacral problems. A problem in the foot may be causing issues in the low back/gluteal regions. Restrictions in the actual cranial bones can be causing headaches/migraines, neck aches, ear aches, emotional difficulties, and learning difficulties as well as other problems. Cranio sacral therapy has a way of showing us that everything is definitely connected.
