A Quest For Natural Alternatives Begins
Darlene Kentel began her quest for an optimal level of health through natural therapies as a result of her own search for alternatives to traditional medical treatment. While she was pregnant with her daughter, Darlene began looking into alternatives to medications that might harm her unborn daughter.
As a result of her research, she became strongly involved in the knowledge and implementation of alternative health options and natural solutions to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Born and raised in the Kitchener/Waterloo area, Darlene moved to the west coast for a while, but returned to Ontario and found herself taking up permanent residence in the Bruce Peninsula. In the Lion’s Head area, she truly felt like she was finally home. The natural environment that surrounds her not only adds to Darlene’s personal sense of well-being, but also represents the spirit of her beliefs that your environment should be an inherent part of who you are.
Training and Certification
After receiving several holistic treatments, Darlene became interested in furthering her knowledge and becoming trained to offer the same holistic treatments to others seeking alternatives to traditional western medicine. She enrolled in a course to learn Myomassology and graduated as a practitioner in 2008. Darlene followed that with the Instructor’s Course in 2015 so that she could share her love of natural therapies with students wanting to learn the techniques.
“I strongly believe in a meeting of the minds for approach to health care.
In an ideal world Western Traditional Medicine would meet
Ancient Eastern medicines in a preventative approach to health care.”
A Way of Life
For Darlene, natural therapies and alternative treatments isn’t the only way she maintains her health. Darlene practices what she teaches in a way that influences every part of her life resulting in a holistic lifestyle. Her personal fitness regimen includes the more zen activities befitting her personality and activity level. Darlene is involved in yoga, hiking and Nia. Nia is an activity that encompasses the elements of yoga, Tai Chi and dance. When she’s not working or exercising, Darlene can be found exploring the nature around her with the help of her two dogs, and all the furry creatures inhabiting the area around her Bruce Peninsula home.
All of Darlene’s activities are an expression of her love for a natural lifestyle. She enjoys cooking, reading, playing guitar and traveling. She has explored corners of the globe that include the Caribbean, Australia, and Japan, with her sights set on Italy, France and Spain in the near future.
