Back Pain & The Myomassology Massage Approach !
Myomassology Massage is often requested by residents in the Bruce Peninsula to treat back pain. In almost all cases of back pain, sciatica, scoliosis, injury or stress, and even neck and shoulder strain, include a leg length discrepancy. This simply means that one leg appears shorter than the other. Clients often realize this difference when relaxed and on the massage table when the spine naturally realigns and has no load from the body to support. After preliminary relaxation and traction of the legs, this leg discrepancy can routinely be as much as an inch or more when measured prior to treatment.
The painful cause of Apparent Short Leg Syndrome is almost always extra tight muscles in the low back area, hips and glutes. These muscles (particularly the piriformis muscle which attaches the femur to the sacram on either side of the body) are shortened when tight and pull the leg up higher into the hip than it should be. The effect this misalignment of the leg and hips has on the body is considerable. The leg seems shortened, searing “hot poker” pain can be felt in the hips and glutes, the hip becomes tilted, the spine can be pulled out of alignment, the SI joint is compromised and painful gluteal muscles can push on sciatic nerves.
At Aromasense Massage & Bodyworks specific Myommasology techniques such as contraction release and leg balancing are used to combat this painful condition. These techniques and concentration on the Sacral area are the cornerstones in a Myomassology treatment. Once our foundation is released and stable, a Myomassology massage continues to treat the entire body with a dedicated holistic approach.
Feel the difference Myomassology makes. As clients have said before, “This was my last resort to relieve pain …. It should have been my first.”
